CATAPULT ‘GROW-FOR-IT’ AS THEY BACK EVERYMAN MALE CANCER AWARENESS

Rob Carroll and the male members of his team at Catapult Venture Managers are enduring an onslaught of good-humoured banter as they grow moustaches in support of the Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Campaign.

The Everyman national ‘Tacheback’ campaign raised a ‘fan-tache-tic’ £230,000 in 2007 and a total of £700,000 since it was launched in 2003 to raise money research into Prostrate and Testicular Cancers. (The Catapult team are joining Funders, Bankers, Corporate Financiers, Lawyers, Due Diligence and other service providers from the private equity arena in abandoning their electric shavers and shaving foam during the month of September to raise money for this worthy cause).

“I’m really growing for it,” said Rob who has already received pledges of nearly £2,300 from friends and members of the professional services community. “There’s some good natured rivalry going on between our Leicester and Birmingham offices as to who will end up with the most impressive hairy top lip, but it’s doubtful any of us will come close to competing with past and present celebrities such as Groucho Marx, Tom Selleck (Magnum) and Burt Reynolds.

“However, there is one member of our crew who is not growing a moustache for this event – Director Robin Jones, but for good reason – he’s sported a hairy top lip for 25 years. We’re now trying to persuade him to shave it off for charity….but as he’s very attached to it we think it’s going to take some convincing! Perhaps some of our colleagues and friends can persuade him to do so through hefty sponsorship pledges.”
