CATAPULT STRENGTHENS TEAM WITH ADDITION OF TWO NEW KEY APPOINTMENTS
Catapult Venture Managers, which has offices in Birmingham and Leicester, has announced two new key appointments.
Ben Bolt - previously with Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander - joins as an Investment Director and will focus on deal origination and execution. Ben qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte and he has 12 years corporate finance experience, both as an advisor to owner managed businesses and as a principal investor.
Ed Wass comes ‘on board’ as an Investment Manager. Prior to this, his work included the role of interim FD for The CarbonNeutral Company. His career began in Audit with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London, then transferring to Business Recovery. In 2002 Ed, along with two colleagues, undertook a BIMBO of a marketing agency based in Leicestershire, with him acting as Financial Director until its sale in 2007.
Last year Catapult completed nearly 30 transactions and is strengthening its team to identify and assist companies needing funding for growth. Managing Director Rob Carroll commented: “The current economic climate is particularly tough, but we have undertaken a number of deals this year including taking part in a £0.8m investment into Birmingham-based Comply Serve and injecting £0.6m of a £1.0m funding round into Warwick Effect Polymers.
“We are fortunate to have recruited to our team two consummate professionals in Ben and Ed with great experience of the professional services sector in the wider Midlands. Both are chartered accountants and have worked closely with small to medium sized enterprises – their knowledge and expertise should prove invaluable.”
