CATAPULT MAKES KEY BIRMINGHAM OFFICE APPOINTMENT

Julie Newman has joined Catapult Venture Managers to ‘head-up’ the £20m Advantage Enterprise & Innovation Fund (AEIF).

The Fund, which looks at investments from £500k to £2m on a matched basis, will benefit from Julie’s wide experience in early stage venture capital investments and, in particular, her knowledge of the technology sector.

Co-founder of Winchester-based Strathdon Investments in 1997, Julie helped take the company to an AIM listing in 2004. Her previous experience includes operating roles within British Gas where she was closely involved with their Corporate Venturing programme.

Catapult managing director Rob Carroll, commenting on Julie’s appointment said: “I am delighted to have someone with Julie’s experience joining the team. Her background in early stage venture capital investing will help ensure the Fund is successful in seeking out and investing in some high quality opportunities in the coming months.

“Her blend of experience from ‘start-ups’ through to large corporates is a great asset to us.”
